NEW SINGLE - ALL GIRLS HAVE A VOLVO..........................................................................101
January 2009..... |
|
Happy
New Year!
In
the slipstream of the recent album, The Satellite Junkyard,
the Cuban Boys have just finished recording a hot new
single called ALL GIRLS HAVE A VOLVO. A track which
will leave your mouth wide-open with its sheer naughtiness,
it is classic Cuban Boys.
Rather
excitingly, B.L.Underwood has returned to guest on the
single, adding some of his customary guitar to provide
a little extra turbo to the sound. The boys have completed
some additional mixes and DJ Koroshi has also provided
a floor-thumping remix.
Promos
will be sent out in December / January - with a release
date set for January 2009.

GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES PLEASE!.................................................................109
November 2008..... |
|
A new tune is currently being developed by the band
in their swanky bunker. It is still a prototype but
the boys have been seen driving around with beaming
grins whilst tooting their horns. What can it all mean?

SWEDISH RHAPSODY IN THE USA....................................................................................103
November 2008..... |
|
The Cuban Boys have just been approached by Ninthwave
Records in the USA to include 'Swedish Rhapsody' from
'The Satellite Junkyard' on a forthcoming dance compilation.
The band were unaware that the waltz was big on the
dance scene again but they are right behind the idea.

10TH ANNIVERSARY OF JOHN PEEL'S FIRST
PLAY ..................................................................121
July 2008..... |
|
OK, today is quite a poignant moment for the Cuban Boys
as it marks the 10th Anniversary of the bands' first
ever play by John Peel. It was also the first ever play
of the Cuban Boys anywhere.
As
the band explain "We sent John Peel a one-off cdr
featuring 'Cuban Boy', our first ever recording, in
the hope that he might like it. Just a few days later
he was playing it to the nation on BBC Radio 1 and this
started a wonderful friendship which lasted beyond our
gatecrashing of the UK Charts. John was there right
at the very beginning, and he was still there supporting
us at the end. We still miss him every single day."

OUT NOW - THE SATELLITE JUNKYARD....................................................................................112
July 2008..... |
|
We are glad to announce that THE SATELLITE JUNKYARD
is now available on cd from the online store. The 45
minute recording features a glorious mix of old and
new tunes within a mysteriously twisted conceptual framework.
Highlights
include the John Peel Tribute track (The Nation Needs
You), the re-vamped version of the Theme For Prim &
Proper (Sorry!), the conundrum of a Festive 50 favourite
(The Vinyl Countdown), and an updated version of the
band's popular theme to the BBC TV Show, Still Game,
(Cuban Boy).
Also
there's room for the popular YouTube hit (Wacky
Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man), sumptious
French electro-pop (Claudine Is Blue), and the two bonkers
singles
(Spooky! and The Penthouse Messiahs).
In
a happy coincidence, BBC2 are showing Series 2 of Still
Game at the moment.
